A Walk through History: Passport to the City of Lancaster

Now in its second edition, this self-guided walking
tour enables teachers and students to discover the city of Lancaster
and learn about local history through visual experience.
- Appropriate for grades 3 to 8.
- Available in two time lengths: 60-75 minutes and 75-90 minutes.
- Each student is given the Passport to the City of Lancaster, a specially-designed booklet that includes a map of the tour route and brief descriptions of each stop, complete with thought-provoking questions and fun scavenger-type activities.
- Students will explore a variety of topics including city development, social issues, architecture and the role of prominent community members.
- Registered teachers receive an instructive Teacher's Guide, which includes additional information on the tour stops, relevant state standards, suggestions for follow-up activities, and more.
- Cost: FREE
The
walking tour can be done on its own or combined with one of the
Heritage Center's other educational
programs. Brown-bag lunches can be eaten in between the programs
at the Jasper
Yeates House.
