Student Programs - Exhibit Tours and Activities

Scheduled school group visits to the Heritage Center Museum are designed primarily for students in grades 2-8 and include a tour followed by a special activity.

Reservations for exhibit tours and activities are required at least one week in advance. Admission is FREE. Contact Us.

In 2008 (April 4- December 31), students will tour one of the following temporary exhibitions:

          Amish Arts of Lancaster County

          The Print Shop

Patchwork Politics:  From George to George W.   (Available June 6- December 31).

After the tour, students can participate in an activity designed to enhance the learning experience.

  • Each student will create an exhibit-related project that will serve as a reminder of the museum visit.
  • The activity portion of the visit will take place in the Jasper Yeates House Education Center. Located at 24 S. Queen Street, 1/2 block from the museum, this renovated historic structure is equipped to accommodate large groups.
  • Brown-bag lunches may be eaten either before or after the program.
  • Once registered, teachers will receive a School Visit Preparation Guide with information about the museum and other materials.
  • Cost: FREE

Permanent Collection

School groups may also tour the permanent collection in a program tailor-made to specific needs and interests.

All tour programs are accompanied by an activity at the Jasper Yeates House.
