Education Programs for Adults and Families

The Heritage Center Museum and the Heritage Center of Lancaster County are dedicated to the concept of lifelong learning, recognizing that people of all ages benefit from museums and their collections.

Our programs for adults include lectures, bus trips to other regional museums and gardens, intensive workshops resulting in the production of a craft and regular demonstrations in the Quilt & Textile Museum.

From Markets & Gardens to the Dining Table Tour and Workshop

This tour focuses on the fresh produce and herbs available in our local markets and gardens. The tour includes an instructor-led workshop at one of the Heritage Center of Lancaster County’s properties. The workshop will include a demonstration or a hands-on project utilizing the pre-purchased project items to create something to take home.

Workshops may focus on activities such as cooking with herbs, decorative table arrangements made with fresh produce, holiday wreaths, tussie mussies, or local harvest table ornaments. A visit to one of the local markets will be incorporated into the itinerary for a chance to experience the local culture and to purchase homemade local goodies and locally grown produce.

Also included is a visit to Space to Grow, an urban Garden Center that offers herbs, plants, and unique gifts for the garden and home and Esbenshade’s Greenhouse, one of the largest in the area, where the group will receive a talk on herbs and/or vegetable gardening and a chance to stroll the greenhouses.
