Quick Facts about the Museum
  • Located on Penn Square in downtown Lancaster, the Heritage Center Museum features a collection that represents the history and decorative arts of Lancaster County and south-central Pennsylvania from the 18th century to the present.
  • The Heritage Center Museum is housed in two historic buildings: the former City Hall of Lancaster and the Masonic Lodge No. 43, both built in the 1790s. City Hall held county and state offices over the years and even served as Pennsylvania's capitol building from 1799-1812, when Lancaster was the state capital.
  • The Heritage Center of Lancaster County, Inc. also operates the Lancaster Quilt & Textile Museum.
  • Both museums offer a full range of professionally-developed educational programs as well as volunteer opportunities.
